Obituary

Todd Cyril Moore ended his mortal journey on Mar 11, 2021 at his mother’s home in Payson, Utah. In the final days of his 25-month long battle with pancreatic cancer he was tenderly attended to by his mother and his four older brothers until he peacefully slipped through the veil.

Todd was born December 31, 1960 in Oakland, California to Ernest Larson Moore and Lois Carlisle Moore – as a CPA he often joked that he was a perfectly-timed tax deduction. He grew up in Richland, Washington where he watched and participated in the shenanigans and adventures common in a family of five boys and their ragtag friends. As the youngest he was mostly quiet and observant, but he loved to simply be with family – a love that continued throughout his life.

Todd graduated from Columbia High School in 1979. He was proud of his high school heritage and wore his Richland Bomber sweatshirt on the annual Moore Brothers campouts that he planned in the American River valley in Washington. Surrounded by caring church and scout leaders, Todd was also active in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle. His high school years were followed by two years of missionary service in Fukuoka, Japan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1980-1982.

Todd met Sue Lovell, also from Richland, and they married April 29, 1983 in the Seattle Temple. They were soon blessed with a son Alexander Paul Moore. Alex was always a source of happiness and pride throughout Todd’s life.

Graduating from BYU in December of 1986 with a BS in Accounting and a minor in Business, Todd entered the accounting profession taking his first job in Ketchikan, Alaska – which started his life-long love for that state.  With a few years of practical experience behind him, Todd successfully passed exams for his CPA license and worked in accounting firms and in the wholesale food industry in Oregon and Washington. He was an accountant to the bone – he could walk through a grocery store adding up the bill in his head and be within less than $.50, including the sales tax.

Todd enjoyed several seasonal hobbies in his life including golfing, fishing and camping. But his real love was going on road trips. His favorite destination was “anywhere”, and he could drive with his wife and son, or a brother, or a nephew, or alone – as long as it was on the road. He frequently reminisced about trips that stood out in his memory: Disneyland, Victoria Island, Alaska, the Dakotas, and the East Coast.

Late in his life Todd discovered motorcycling. Geared-up and decked-out on a low-riding Kawasaki, he often hit the road with his nephew to enjoy the open scenic roads of the Northwest. But eventually the progression of cancer slowed his responses and sapped his strength. He hung up his helmet for the last time after a memorable but tiring trip from Oregon to Wyoming and back again.
