Obituary

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother Terry Guy Blanchard, 70, returned to his father in heaven on Friday, March 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children after many complications while preparing for a second kidney transplant.

Terry was born on December 20 th , 1953, in Spanish Fork, Utah to William and Reba Blanchard. He attended Provo High School class of 1972.

Terry met and married the love of his life Diane. They met while cruising on Provo Center Street. They were married on August 20 th , 1976, in the Provo Temple for time and all eternity. They were married for 47 years.

Terry had a love for his family and a passion for the great outdoors along with many other hobbies.  He involved his wife, children, and grandchildren in his passions of hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, painting, fly-tying, reloading, shooting, fixing things, Scouting, restoring old cars, and car shows. When Terry was a teenager, he had a great love for muscle cars. He rebuilt his 1956 Chevy Bel Air, which was one of the pride and joys of his life. He was in the Baron car club. He has rebuilt around 10 different cars and trucks throughout his life.

Terry was a skilled heavy equipment operator for over 30 years at Geneva Rock Products. During this time, he operated many different types of equipment. He was also able to work closely with all 3 of his sons, 2 of them followed in his footsteps and have continued the trade. He was always busy doing various side jobs during the off-season such as remodeling, painting, woodwork, concrete, sprinklers, and installing cultured marble.

His love of the outdoors perpetuated his passion for Scouting. He served for over 25 years in various positions including Scout Master, Quartermaster, taught Scout Leader training, attended Woodbadge, and was made a permanent Patrol Leader. He loved taking the scouts camping and teaching them various knots, survival, and building Klondike derby sleds. He loved it when his boys were old enough for scouting to share his knowledge with them. He especially loved participating in Pinewood Derby races and made a hobby of building custom derby cars.

In his retirement years, he spent his time helping his family and friends with their limited-entry deer and elk hunts. Terry also enjoyed living his life camping and fishing at Strawberry Reservoir where he spent a lot of time with his dad when he was a child. When he wasn’t fishing, he would craft his own fishing lures to use for Kokanee Salmon, where he was good enough to start selling them. He made friends in Salem who taught him how to reload ammunition. He enjoyed sharing this passion with his sons and grandsons.

He is survived by his sweetheart of 47 years Diane, and children Kristen Lund, Korey (Richelle) Blanchard, Melissa (Abe) Mitchell, Darren (Erika) Blanchard, Austin (Marlee) Blanchard, and Ashley Stone, 19 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father William Blanchard, and mother Reba Blanchard, his father-in-law Brown Kaplar, and his sisters Diane Walden and Anita Jensen.
