Obituary

Taylor Audrey McKean of Salem, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9th 2020 at the age of 26, after fighting over ten years of battles with her health.

Taylor, Tay Tay, or Taybug was born July 16th, 1994 in Payson, Utah to Clyde and Michelle Wood McKean. She was their second child of four, two girls and two boys. She was sassy from birth, and gave the dirtiest (and funniest) looks, even as a baby.

As a child, Tay loved babies and dolls. She had an incredible imagination, and would always have a game to play, a movie quote, or a feisty comment to make everyone laugh.  She loved following her older sister around and causing trouble with and for her. When her brothers came along, she loved playing with them, taking care of them, and being an older sister. She also liked to camp, hunt, fish, go to bonfires, and just generally be outside. She loved animals, and had two dogs, Kitzie and Journey. They were her babies and she took great pride in being a “Fur Mama”.

Taylor developed an autoimmune disease at the age of 15. This put a damper on her going to college and living a “normal” life, but she remained strong and positive through it all. She fought through multiple battles that took her to the edge of death, and she always came back stronger than ever. She had a lot of support through her life, and to her, family was everything. Just like she was everything to us.

At the age of 23, Tay became Aunt Tay Tay. She was absolutely in love with her nephew Waylon, and he loved her back. They could play for hours and never tire of each other. He became the light for her, and if she was ever feeling down, he could cheer her right up. She was such a huge part of his life, that even at his young age, we know he will miss her and love her for the rest of his life. We know she will be with him always.

She was also extremely close with her grandparents, especially Grandma Carol. She spent a lot of time hanging out with “Gram”, doing puzzles and just chatting and teasing constantly. She loved doing Girl’s Craft Nights and going “bummin’” with Grandma, Mom, and her sister.

Taylor is survived by her parents, Clyde and Michelle, of Salem, her siblings: Shelbi (Trevor) and her nephew, Waylon Shepherd, of Benjamin; Carson (Sam), and nephew, Allan, of Spanish Fork; Jaxon, of Salem; her grandparents: Terry and Carol DeGraw of Salem, Steven Clissold of Millcreek, Grama Sherle Ogan of Murray; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, William H. Wood, of Salem; and grandmother, Jackie Clissold, of Millcreek.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, August 15, 2020, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the LDS Church, 60 South Main Street, Salem, Utah 84653.  Following visitation, graveside services will be at 11 a.m. at Salem City Cemetery, 130 East 965 South, Salem, Utah.
