Steven Brent Christensen joined the Heavenly hosts of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4th, 2026. He passed away in Payson, Utah, at the age of 67, following a brave battle with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on February 26, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Raymond and Marlene Christensen, Steve showed a deep love for scriptures and a devotion to Jesus Christ from a young age. Even in high school, his understanding and knowledge of the gospel led him to teach adult Sunday school classes. He later served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boston, Massachusetts.
Steve pursued his higher education at Brigham Young University, earning his Bachelor’s degree in communications in 1983 and his Master’s degree in library and information science in 1990. Driven by a lifelong passion for knowledge, he dedicated his professional career to the field of library sciences.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve found great joy in scripture study and gospel teaching. He served as a temple worker and as a counselor in his ward’s bishopric, where he spent years ministering to widows and widowers with profound kindness, empathy, and Christlike love.
Beyond his church service and career, Steve possessed a deep admiration for the arts, music, and culinary traditions, frequently attending performances and community festivals. Steve was always eager to joyfully share with others his zeal for life, his love for the gospel, scriptures, and the creative wonders of the world.
The true joy of Steve’s life was meeting his eternal companion, Sherry Lynn, embracing her eight children into his heart, and welcoming their daughter, Jessica, the ninth child of their family.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Christensen, and his sister.
He is survived by his mother, Marlene Christensen; his beloved wife, Sherry Lynn Christensen; his children: Sarah Rose Webber, Kei Isaac Webber, Zak Webber, Matthew Webber, Ivan Webber, Mariah Webber, Rachel Webber, Sierra Webber, and Jessica Sarah Christensen; his siblings: Daniel Ray Christensen, Benjamin Maxwell Christensen, Karen Ann Hepworth, John David Christensen, Michael Andrew Christensen, Matthew Paul Christensen, James Victor Christensen, Mark Edward Christensen, Mary Kay Christensen, and Timothy Ray Christensen.
