Sally Lynn
Winger
May 20, 1944 — Sep 28, 2021
Sally Lynn Winger of Payson, Utah, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the age of 77. She was born May 20, 1944, in Boise, Idaho. Sally was the second oldest of ten children born to Daniel Dean Stuart, the late Thora June Newton, and Diane Marie McMahon. She had two brothers and seven sisters. She and her sisters, Sandy and Billie, were known as “The Three Musketeers.” She spent most of her growing-up years with her family in Ashland, Ohio. She graduated from Ashland High School with her sweetheart and the love of her life, Larry Dean Winger. Sally and Larry married in 1961. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Sally and Larry created a beautiful legacy over the last 60 years. She became a mother to nine daughters and one son. Their posterity has grown to include 44 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, and there is no indication of slowing down!
Sally found great joy and fulfillment in the hard work of marriage and motherhood. Her hobbies and passions developed through the growth and experiences that came from raising a large family. She loved and shared her talents in cooking, canning, laundering, mending, gardening, cleaning, decorating, antiquing, and crafting. Sally and Larry were entrepreneurs at heart and created lifelong friendships during their various business adventures. She had a tender spot in her heart for the underdog and made sure she was never too busy to serve those in need.
Going from a busy house full of children to empty nesters brought about a completely new stage of life. Sally and Larry immersed themselves in genealogy and temple work. They also traveled the country to attend their grandchildren’s many activities and achievements. Along the way, they enjoyed camping in the canyons of Southeastern Utah, boating in Lake Powell, cruising the seas, touring the Midwest with its beautiful fall colors, exploring the Alaskan wilderness, relaxing on the beaches of Hawaii, sight-seeing in Yellowstone, and a myriad of other experiences.
Sally’s greatest desire in life was that her children and grandchildren would embrace the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She created opportunities to share her testimony and the examples of our Savior Jesus Christ through her words and deeds.
Life is an adventure; Sally made everything just that, and we find great peace and comfort in knowing she is on her greatest adventure, yet.
