Roger Lynn
Jones
Nov 2, 1956 — Jan 21, 2025
Roger Lynn Jones, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in Spanish Fork, Utah, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 2, 1956, in Payson, Utah, to Gwen Reid Hartley and Edward Gates Jones.
Roger graduated from Springville High School in 1974, setting the stage for a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his community. On April 15, 1977, Roger married his sweetheart, Diane Nelson, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, at The Bungalow. Their marriage was built on love, faith, mutual respect, and laughter that lasted nearly 48 years.
Roger had a career marked by loyalty and commitment. He worked for Powder River from 1976 to 1982 and later became a production manager at Klemp Corporation, where he worked from 1982 to 2007. In 2007, he left Klemp Corp. and became one of the five founding members of Interstate Gratings, where he worked until his retirement in 2017. His work ethic was a testament to his character, and he took great pride in all he did.
Outside of work, Roger was a man of many interests and passions. He loved horseback riding, gardening, farming, boating, and fishing. Roger spent many years coaching Little League with his kids and grandkids’ teams. He coached baseball, softball, and basketball, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes. He also found the most joy in being a grandfather, creating precious memories with his 10 grandchildren: Abbi, Hallie, Korver, Lacie, Jackson, Hudson, Brighton, Tate, Isla, and Canyon.
He was known for his kindness, his toughness, his infectious laughter and his extreme storytelling. He also had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Roger is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Diane; his children Shannon (Jeff) Swenson of Spanish Fork, Cody (Marian) Jones of St. George, and Kristen (Weston) Harding of Benjamin; his siblings Mark, Karen, and Kent; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Pete Edward, his brothers Alan, Ronald, and Floyd, his brother-in-laws Keith and Kenneth Nelson, and his in-laws Mark and Deloris Nelson.
Roger’s love for life, his family, and his faith will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
