Obituary

Robert “Robbie” James Smith, our dear son, brother, grandson, and friend passed away on November 3, 2025, in Payson, Utah. Robbie was born to Donald Arthur Smith and DeAnn Elizabeth Carter in Provo, Utah on March 16, 1996. Robbie was an active member of the  Payson high school bagpipe band, and high school choir trouveres throughout his high school years. Graduating from Payson High School  in 2014 . He went on to study at Utah Valley University, and Southern Utah University. He worked at Smith’s Grocery for a short time, and Costa Vida for several years in the stores, and corporate offices.

Robbie was incredibly intelligent; he learned Japanese, and Spanish languages, and classical guitar on his own in his spare time. He enjoyed engaging in deep and meaningful conversations with others. Robbie was gifted and he was truly a tech wizard. He built his own computers and excelled in the field of IT professionally.  He loved tradition. Creatively, he was a talented actor, singer, and musician. Robbie served five service missions at the Nauvoo Pageant performing with the bagpipe band where he became an integral member. He loved riding bikes, sometimes riding 70 miles in a day several days in a row for months at a time. He also really loved taking road trips with friends, and family.  He practiced Kendo, a modern Japanese martial art based on samurai swordsmanship, and enjoyed playing tennis, and he really did catch all the Pokémon!

He worked extremely hard at everything he set out to do. Robbie was thoughtful, extremely generous, and always put others before himself. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need without a second thought. Robbie loved his pets, but  his family was the most important to him.

Robbie is survived by his parents Don and (Kelly) Smith, and DeAnn (Don) Thomas; siblings, Ian (Kendra) Smith, Nick Goodman, Tate Goodman, McKay Goodman, Romey Goodman, and Molly Goodman; nephews, Miles Smith and Liam Smith; and his grandparents, Bob and Mary Carter. He will also be missed by his ever faithful cats Buggy and Katmandu that were always there for him at the end of many  long and exhausting days. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Verlene Smith.
