Robert J.
Fotheringham
Dec 21, 1949 — Jan 19, 2024
Robert J. Fotheringham, a generous and loving soul, passed away on the 19th of January, 2024 at the humble age of 74. Born on the 21st of December, 1949, in Spanish Fork, Utah, he lived a life full of laughter, kindness, and dedication to his family and faith. Years of hard work and dedication led him to a successful career as a truck driver with Metro Steel in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Elko, Nevada. His passionate nature was seen not only in his work but also in his hobbies, which included building model airplanes, welding, target shooting, and indulging in a good book or movie.
Robert, known by many for his humble nature, was a man of strong faith and part of the Latter-Day-Saint community. He embodied the teachings of his faith, with a life that resonated with the verse from the Doctrine and Covenants 6:36, “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” He was a beacon of hope and strength for his family and friends, always ready to lend a hand or share a funny anecdote to lighten the mood.
Robert was the beloved husband of the late Shirley May and a dedicated father to his children, Laci Warby, Morgan Hess, Joseph D Fotheringham, and Ryan Fotheringham. He was an adored grandfather to Mack, Gabe, Chloe, Landon, Desmond, and Gwendolyn, who all held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his sisters Jeanne Hiatt, Debi Marriott, and Peggy deAzevedo, and his children and their spouses Laci (Andrew) Warby and Morgan (Shar) Hess. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Fotheringham and Laurel Waters, and his beloved wife, Shirley May.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 – 1979.
We invite you all to share your memories in the comments. Your memories will help us all remember the humble, funny, generous, and loving man that Robert was.
