Rick Duane Hansen, 64, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away on April 1, 2021, in Payson, Utah. He passed away from complications of COVID-19. Rick was born the second oldest child to Duane J. Hansen and JoAnn Olson Williams on January 15, 1957, in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Rick developed a strong work ethic and started working at a young age. He loved people and was a great people person. He got along with everyone and was a dad to all. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He met the love of his life, Connie Beckstrom, at Glades Drive-In. They were married on June 25, 1976. On their 35th wedding anniversary, they were sealed in the Provo Utah Temple.
They were blessed with five children, four boys, and one fabulous girl. He loved his children with all his heart, and he was always there to support them for their entire lives. He went to great lengths to make it to all of their sporting events and activities. He taught them to work hard and have a strong work ethic.
He worked on progressing his career at Geneva Steel, Geneva Rock, and most recently Granite Construction. He regularly would work a 12-hour shift then come home to do yard work and other chores. He loved his garden and had a stinking green thumb. His children were always there by his side to learn how to work and to do it the way he liked it. He was a jack of all trades and knew so many skills, which he passed on to his children and others. He made sure all of his children developed a work ethic like his. He was the owner of ER Curbing, where he built a loyal customer base and developed friendships with many of them.
He was obsessed with his grandchildren and loved them every moment he had. They each had a special place in his heart. He continued his legacy of being at all of their activities, no matter how many he had and where they took place. He gained other grandchildren, which were the kids in the neighborhood.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved his savior and was always working on developing and progressing. He was a true follower of Christ in his willingness to serve. It didn’t matter to him what others needed; he was always willing and able to serve them with everything he had.
He is survived by his siblings, Diane Richins of Roosevelt, Craig (JoLynn) Hansen of Springville, and Collette Ford of Spanish Fork. He is survived by his loving wife Connie B. Hansen, their children Cody of Spanish Fork, Adrienne (Rob) Proctor of Ivins, Shad (Sammi) of Salem, Seth (Jesica) of Spanish Fork. He is also survived by his eight grandsons and two granddaughters; Tyrell Russell, Sam Montgomery, Tanner, Brayden, and Mylie Prestwich, Laton and Ryan Hansen, Jaxon and Raeleen’Olivia Hansen, and a grandson who is on the way. Dad has been heartbroken since the passing of his son Colt. We take comfort in knowing of the joyous reunion of father and son.
We love you, Dad.
