Peggy Lee Steele
Sorensen
Mar 9, 1950 — Mar 27, 2019
Our loving Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Aunt and Sister, Peggy Lee Steele Sorensen, 69, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 of Cardiac Arrest.
Peggy was born on March 9, 1950 to Joseph Vern (Mac) and LaVieve Butler Steele. She was the youngest of 7 children. Peggy spent her youth in Santaquin and attended Payson High School. On October 7, 1967 she married Val Olen Sorensen and they were blessed with 6 children.
Peggy enjoyed many things; in her younger years she played and coached softball, bowled in numerous leagues, was involved with her children’s baseball teams, crocheted and made baby blankets, was a member of the DUP and enjoyed researching genealogy. She was a dedicated fan of the Utah Jazz and loved listening to country music. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family at Christmas parties, reunions and Deer camp, but most of all, she loved being a Mom and Grandmother. Her grandchildren were her heart and soul and she had the pleasure of caring for most of them in their youth.
Peggy was a people person, a social butterfly. Her bubbly outgoing personality, warm smile and infectious laugh filled the room. She had a genuine regard for people and always made everyone she knew feel welcomed and loved. Because of these extraordinary gifts she often became known as “Mom”, “Aunt” or “Grandma” Peg to many.
Peggy is survived by her Husband of 51 years, Val, her six children, Troy (Jennifer) Deer Park, Washington, Tony (Erika) Morgan, Utah, Tom (DeAnn) Syracuse, Utah, Tina (Rick) Waggoner, Clearfield, Utah, Terrell and Tammy, Layton, Utah, her step son, Ricky, Idaho; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, Sister, Darla (John) Painter, and Brother, Larry (Beverly) Steele.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers, Mac, Arlyn, Clifton and Sister Jeannine.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 12 noon at the Santaquin LDS church 345 W 100 N. A viewing will be held that morning at the church from 10am to 11:45am for family and friends. Interment will be at the Santaquin City Cemetery. Compassionate service will be provided by the Santaquin 5th ward.
