Obituary

On March 10th 1944, Patricia Ann Wallace Ivie was welcomed into the loving arms of her parents, Arthur and Audrey Wallace. This beautiful family of three would spend her childhood in homes from Cedar City, Utah to Pocatello, Idaho. No matter the location a beautiful yard, immaculate home, and loving parents guided and directed their talented daughter. At a young age Patrica showed a particular talent and love of music, she would learn the piano and excelled at vocals. She would eventually step from the church choir to the recording studio to share her talents with the world.
The fondest of childhood memories would be gathered from road trips to visit family in Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska, holding the strong hand of her father and learning the art of cooking and a green thumb from her mother.
While attending Granger high school in Utah she would make her closest life long friend Judy Searle. Shortly thereafter a slightly mischievous young cowboy named Ron Ivie, with his blue eyes and a fancy car would win her heart. It would become the love story of a classy city girl and her Strawberry River man.
On August 8, 1962 Patrica and Ron said “I do” to a life together. This chapter of her life would unfold on the corner lot of Blair street in South Salt Lake City Utah with weekends on the family cattle ranch along the Strawberry River. The couple welcomed three daughters into their home, Stephanie, Sherrie and to avoid the three “s’s” Machelle who naturally garnered the nickname from friends “Shelly”. During this time Patricia was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her life as a homemaker and on occasion took a job to help out the family. Transitioning from an only child to a family of 9 chosen siblings, she cherished and loved the relationships with her new sisters and brothers. On March 25 of 1977 Ron and Pat were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. That August they would welcome their last child Nathan into their lives.
With her girls growing and married Patricia would open a new chapter in life with her Husband and son on the corner lot of 2200 west in Bluffdale, Utah. She took a teller position at the bank part time and continued to raise her husband and son. During this time she began welcoming the first of 29 grandchildren who would become the greatest joy of her life. From dance recitals to wrestling matches and shopping days at the mall she cheered, taught and celebrated those she cherished and loved most of all. She carried an instinctual capacity to love each of her children and grandchildren in a way that connected with each one individually. With a desire to bring beauty to the world she would write poetry, sing, and paint.
In the summer of 2003 the final chapter of life would open for Patrica. A life long pursuit would come to fruition with the purchase of a beautiful new home on a horse ranch, with white rail fencing, in Benjamin Utah. A place she could call her very own. Her slice of heaven in the valley with grand mountain view’s, just a short drive away from the city she loved. Here she would welcome the last two of her grandchildren. Open her basement apartment to the older grandchildren getting married and attending collage. Grow a perfect garden, raise beautiful roses and celebrate 50 then 60 years of marriage to the man she loved. Dedicated in her church service she taught, visited the needy, served in the Temple and loved her neighbors and ward. It was truly a season of fruitful harvest from a lifetime of work and love. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment in this phase of life was finally getting her husband to clean the toilet.
As the beauty of those fall days gave way to the white peace of winters snowfall she closed out her mortal memories and breaths surrounded by her Strawberry River man and the legacy they created together on June, 7, 2024. A fitting year as she hated odd numbers.
She now starts a new chapter that’s oddly familiar as she stepped back into the loving arms of her parents and Heavenly Father she so deeply loves. No doubt she continues to say “be safe” to those she still watches over including her Husband Ron Ivie, Children Stephanie (Kenny) Kuhn, Sherrie (Joe) Ohrn, Machelle (Taft) Grant, Nathan (Ric) Ivie, Stephanie Shotts Ivie, 29 Grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and her dog Cuddles.
A viewing will be held the evening of June, 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. At the LDS Benjamin Chapel, with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on June 12 At the Benjamin LDS Chapel, 3238 W. 7300 S.
