Nikki Dorothea
Orton
Apr 25, 1943 — Jun 30, 2026
Nikki Dorothea Orton, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026. She was born on April 25, 1943, in Provo, Utah, to Herbert J. and Dorthea Lambson Kruse. Growing up in Provo, Nikki learned early the values of hard work, faith, and creativity—qualities she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Provo High School and remained proud of her roots and the community that shaped her.
Nikki first married Lynn Verl Sanderson, with whom she shared a loving home and many cherished years raising their family. After Lynn’s passing, she later married Jerry E. Orton, finding companionship and joy once again. Her family was always the center of her world, and she loved each of her children with a steady, unwavering devotion.
Her hands were rarely still. Nikki was an exceptional quilter and seamstress, creating clothing, dolls, and beautiful quilts that her family treasures to this day. She loved baking, crocheting, and gardening—finding joy in every stitch, every loaf, and every bloom. Her home radiated warmth, creativity, and generosity, and those who visited always felt welcomed and cared for.
Nikki’s faith guided her daily life. As a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in her ward as Primary President, in the Relief Society, and in the nursery, where her gentle nature made every child feel safe and cherished. One of the greatest joys of her later years was serving a mission with her husband Jerry in a special needs ward in Provo. She often spoke of how deeply she loved the people there and how meaningful that service was to her.
She is survived by her children Becky (Craig) Sumsion, Jodie Swenson, Stacy Reynolds, Verl (Jesse) Sanderson, Wendy (Jo) Davis, and Trudy Boyack, as well as her step daughter Sherri (Brandon) Page. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, and her two sisters.
The family would like to invite friends and family to honor Nikki at a graveside service that will be held Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery at 420 South 400 East.
Nikki’s life was filled with quiet acts of love, creativity, and service. She will be remembered for her kindness, her steady faith, and the way she made every person feel valued. Her legacy lives on in her family, her community, and the countless lives she touched.
