The sweetest mother in all the world, Nellie Gae Brown Fausett, very unexpectedly and quickly, passed away early Sunday morning, December 12, 2021, leaving us broken-hearted, but full of love and gratitude for her life, her legacy, and, most of all, her powerful love.
Gae was born in Centerville, Utah, February 7, 1935, to Grace Denison Brown, and George “Ed” Brown, the eldest of three children. She grew up nestled right under the eastern mountains of Centerville, with her brother, Denny, and sister, Jane, as well as her very dear circle of friends, with whom she maintained close, fond bonds all her life. Centerville, her siblings and parents, and friends, remained a joyful and nostalgic foundation through the years. She shared many memories with us of nights spent sleeping under the cherry trees with her brother and sister; sleepovers, and campouts and church activities with her friends; school days at good old Davis High; and, of course, her angel mother, from whom she inherited so much of her loving-kindness, nurturing, patience, fortitude, and passion for gardening, beautiful flowers, and birds.
She graduated from Davis High School in 1953, worked for a spell at Yellowstone National Park with her pal, Marge McIntyre, then attended Weber State University, and Brigham Young University, where she had many fun times with friends and dating. A highlight for her of this time was going to Los Angeles with a group of friends to attend a devotional where she met Mormon church President David O McKay. She married Bert Fausett, from Nephi, Utah, February 15, 1957, had her first baby in 1958, and moved to Salem, Utah, for her husband’s work, in 1974. She delivered ten babies, most of them at home, and focused her life on caring for them, providing a home, and participating and serving in callings through the Mormon church.
Gae was very passionate and knowledgeable about health, nutrition, herbal remedies, and the body, and used that, not only to help her own family, but to help others who were receptive to it. It was important to her. And, the Church was very important to her. She had a strong love and faith for it, and devoted a great amount of time to it.
It was very difficult for her to move to Salem. She was homesick for Centerville, and “the gang” for years, but she also grew to love Salem and the people there. She knew half the town, at least. And, everyone who knew her, loved her. To know our cherished mama was to love her. She was very good-natured, amiable, and kind. She was so willing always, to give and help in whatever way she could contribute. She was an amazing cook, homemaker, and mother. Most of all, she was an angel mother. She wanted more than anything, since she was a child, to be a mom. Boy, did she fulfill that desire. Us kids were her most important and cherished undertaking. She is, and always will be, our most beloved and cherished wellspring, our gracious and beautiful and devoted mama. We eagerly await the moment we will return to her loving embrace.
Gae was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Brown Anderson; friend, Margorie McIntyre; husband, Bert Fausett; beloved son, Ross Fausett; and cherished grandsons, Delano Cloward, Ezra Cloward, and Nathan Fausett.
She is survived by her adoring children – Neal Fausett (Jacque Smith) Nephi, Utah; Russell Fausett (Gaylynn Fowler) Payson, Utah; Lani Fausett (Todd Chipman) St George, Utah; Rosemary Fausett, St George, Utah; Lyle Fausett (Nichole Lowder) Salem, Utah; Jesse Fausett (Carin Coray) Fairview, Utah; Jason Fausett, Murray, Utah; Renae Fausett, Salem, Utah; Janel Fausett, Salem, Utah.
Brother, Edward “Denny” Brown (Sylvia Ward) Delta, Oasis, Utah.
