Obituary

Mitchell Lee Banks passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. He died of natural causes related to long term, non-covid, respiratory issues that had afflicted him since his youth.
Mitchell was born on March 12, 1984, to Steven and Janalee Banks in Payson, Utah. He grew up in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School where he was an accomplished wrestler who earned three varsity letters and won a Region Six championship in 2002. After high school he attended the welding program at MATC. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints and was an Eagle Scout.
After obtaining a certificate in welding he worked in the trade for a few years before a serious automobile accident caused neck and spinal injuries that forced a career change. For the last several years he worked at Vivint Home Smart in customer support. He was eventually promoted to the position of customer conflict resolution specialist. (We know, conflict resolution…)
Mitchell loved off roading and going to Moab. He enjoyed the outdoors. It didn’t matter if it was fishing, camping, boating, or hunting. He loved spending time with his family while exploring some of Utah’s most beautiful places. Over the last several years he found a new calling as an uncle which he cherished. His nieces adored “Uncle Mitch” and would engage in a campaign of harassment if he was in close proximity.
Mitchell was often misunderstood and had a personality that was larger than life. Those who got past his imposing look and gruff personality realized that at his core he was a kindhearted person who was incredibly loyal to the people he cared about and did some of his best work as a human being when no one was watching.
He is survived by his parents, Steven and Janalee, as well as his two brothers, Todd Banks (Lovelock, NV) and Jacob (Pamella) Banks (Centerville, UT). He is also survived by his two nieces, Alyna and Evie, his grandfathers, Glen C Searle (Levan, UT) and Dan Banks (Lakeshore, UT) as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Marion Searle, Hazel Banks, DeeAnn Searle and Barbara Banks, 2 uncles and his brother Brady.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Home in Spanish Fork from 6 until 8 in the evening. A second viewing will be held just prior to the service on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 9:45 until 10:45, with the funeral service at 11 o’clock at the Walker Funeral Home in Spanish Fork.
