Michael Don
Mecham
Jan 15, 1964 — Jun 13, 2026
Michael Don Mecham, affectionately known to many as Meathead, passed away on June 13, 2026, in Spanish Fork, Utah. Born on January 15, 1964, in Payson, Utah, to David Edmond Mecham and Verla Kay, Michael grew up in Genola surrounded by open fields, small‑town grit, and the kind of freedom that shaped the rest of his life. He shared those early years with his siblings—Marian, Bryan, Lecia, Daniel, Darren and Amy—forming bonds, memories, and mischief that stayed with him throughout his life. He later made his home in Spanish Fork, where he built deep roots and lasting memories.
A graduate of Spanish Fork High School, Michael went on to become a trained baker, working in several bakeries throughout his life. He took pride in his craft—early mornings, warm ovens, and the simple joy of creating something with his hands.
Michael married Lisa Ivie on January 28, 1984, and though they later divorced, their years together remained an important part of his story.
He was happiest in the mountains, where he found peace, adventure, and the quiet that only nature can offer. Whether he was cranking up AC/DC, singing along to country music, or cracking a joke that made everyone laugh, Michael lived with a free spirit and a big, unforgettable sense of humor. He never missed a chance to lighten a moment or make someone smile.
Michael’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children: Brady & Jessica, Ashley and Casey Hone, and Lisa Rachell. He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Jayda, Averie, Kamree, Katie, Addisyn, and Ryker. He is also survived by his siblings: Bryan (Trina), Lecia Lyon, Daniel (Jana), Darren (Miranda), and Amy Vause.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Verla Mecham; his sister, Marian; and two brothers‑in‑law, Craig Lyon and Lynne Vause.
Michael will be remembered for his humor, his wild heart, and the way he lived life on his own terms. He leaves behind stories that will be told for years, laughter that will echo in our memories, and a love that will never fade.
We love you, Dad. We will miss you forever.
A Memorial Service will be held in Michael’s honor on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah.
