Obituary

Marianne Evans, of Payson Utah passed away on February 20th of 2025, after a long and fulfilling life of 92 years. She is now reunited with her eternal companion in Heaven.

Marianne was born on May 19, 1932 to Eugene V and Naoma Ellsworth Hillman in Payson, Utah. She was the youngest of their four children: Barbara, Ralph, Russell, then Marianne. She spent her childhood and teenage years participating in pep squad, cheer, and was an attendant of Payson Centennial Queen. She graduated from Payson High School in 1950.

She married Bernell Evans on March 17, 1951 in Payson, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple. They lived a short time in San Pedro, CA as a young military family but spent the majority of their life in Payson where they raised their family.

Marianne loved to be on the golf course. One of her proudest moments as a golfer was medaling in the Huntsman Senior Games. She could be found watching Jazz basketball, golf or gymnastics. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and entered some of these flowers into local flower shows. Her yard was her pride and joy, working in it up until the last few months of her life. She spent many years involved in a variety of community organizations. She was very proud of her Payson heritage.

Marianne was an avid supporter of all activities her children and grandchildren participated in. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always felt loved and cherished by her. She was known for sending each of them birthday cards every year, calling them on the phone and keeping updated on their lives. They have many fond memories of her. She always taught her family to be hard workers and good citizens.

Marianne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spent her life serving others in various positions.

She is survived by her 3 children, Gary (Linn) Evans of Camarillo, CA; Ann (Brad) Adams of Spanish Fork, UT; Karen (Jared) Hanson of Payson, UT; and sister Barbara West. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernell Evans, granddaughter Ashley Evans, and great-great granddaughter Daisy Mae Thorpe. She will be deeply missed by her 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
