Obituary

It is with sincere sadness that the Woodland family announces the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Lila L. Woodland on January 3 rd , 2021 at the age of 91 years 11 months.  Our Mom and Grandma was a very loving and a devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched for her 91 years on this earth.

Mom was taken from us by the COVID affliction that has affected so many.  She entered the hospital on December 27, 2020 and was treated for COVID and she passed peacefully from COVID complication around 8:20 PM January 3 rd , 2021.

Mom was born in Pocatello, Idaho, February 20 th , 1929, she witnessed incredible changes to her world, being of high school age during World War II and seeing so many families affected by the loss of a Service man and/or women, she decided to take up the medical field as an occupation when she completed school.  She went into the nursing field working as an LVN, RN, and eventually Director of Nurses and Hospital Administrator.  All of us were so proud of her accomplishments as she set the example for all of us to complete college bachelors and Masters programs.

Immediately after the end of WWII she met her beloved husband Thomas R. Woodland, who served with the U.S. Navy from 1941-1946.  Thomas and Lila were Married in Pocatello, Idaho on January 16 th , 1947, and chose to settle in Pocatello, Idaho, where the parents of both Thomas and Lila resided.

Thomas and Lila had 3 children, Deborah Jane Bright, (oldest daughter) Thomas Ralph II (Son), married to Yvonne Sarmiento and Jonathan Tostin, (Son youngest).  She was the proud Grandmother of Thomas Ralph III, Lila Socorro Kathleen, David Wesley, Dominique Marie, Kristina Marie, Charlie Marie, Leslie Dennis, Christopher John, and Ashley Michelle,. Grandma has so many Great Grandchildren, there are too many to name them all, but she loved each and every one of them and never forgot a birthday to celebrate their birth.

Mom was predeceased in death by her beloved husband Thomas ‘Ralph’ Woodland, and Son-in-law, Leslie Dennis Bright, she is survived by daughter Deborah Bright, sons Thomas Ralph Woodland, II, and daughter-in-law Yvonne Sarmiento Woodland, and Jonathan Tostin Woodland.

Mom lived a full life as a wonderful mother, Grandmother, Nurse, homemaker and Great Grandmother.  She loved to cook, always kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled in her chosen profession of Nursing. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in all her children, strong values that have served us well during our lifetime. We will so fondly miss Mom’s calls on all of our birthdays as she sings us ‘Happy Birthday,’ the poems she writes as part of cards she sent to us, her wit even at an old age, she is and was someone that the world will miss right along with the rest of us.  How we dearly love our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.

There will be a Graveside Service for Mom/Lila at The Goshen Cemetery, at 1 P.M. where we will reunite Mom and Dad on the date of their Wedding Anniversary, 16 January, in the year of our Lord 2021.
