Obituary

Lester Dean Lee left his earthly family on December 10, 2020, to reunite with his sweet wife and loving family on the other side.  Dean was born January 21, 1923, to Lester Eugene Lee and Grace Gentry Lee.  He was born on a cold, wintry day in Bonneville, Idaho.  He spent his youth in Idaho, but left his childhood memories behind when his family moved to Panaca, Nevada.  He loved Panaca with its beautiful desert surroundings and friendly people.  He graduated from Lincoln County High School in Panaca.  Shortly after graduation, on a beautiful spring day, he met the love of his life, Neva Joy Allan. On December 7, 1943, they were married in the St. George Temple.  He continued his education by graduating from BYU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Years later, he graduated, with a Master’s Degree, from N.A.U. in Flagstaff, Arizona.

He loved his country and served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII.  After returning from the war, he moved his wife and two baby daughters to the beautiful little town of Salem Utah. He was a kind, dedicated and loving husband and father to his daughters and sons, as they joined the family – nine children in all, as well as a foster Navajo daughter.  He loved his family and enjoyed being with them.  He worked for Geneva Steel as an accountant in their Accounting Department for many years.  He also served his community as Bishop and Mayor until being transferred to Lander, Wyoming, by Geneva Steel. He was offered, and  accepted, a teaching position in Mesquite, Nevada, where he served and taught until he retired.  After moving to Kanosh, Utah, he worked in the Fillmore Hospital Accounting Department.  He then moved back to Salem, Utah, with his wife to spend their final years. Dean loved beautiful sunsets, camping, fishing and a good joke. He was honored and loved by all who knew him for his kindness, honesty, and steadfast integrity.

He is survived by: Carol Woods (Val) of Mesquite, NV; Susan Nielson of Mesquite, NV; Mary Kaye Jensen (Fred) of Rapid City, SD; Lester Lee (Jill) of Clarkston, UT; Allan Lee (Caroleen) of Enoch, UT; Ronald Lee (Teala) of Heber City, UT; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Neva Joy Lee; daughter, Linda Francis (J. Wayne); daughter, LaRee Overland; daughter, Robyn Erickson (Edward).
