Laura Marie Coakwell Betts, age 65, passed away on October 5, 2026, at home in Payson, Utah. Laura was born to Richard Gordon and Carol Marie Keller Coakwell in Ithaca, New York on October 17, 1960. She was one of three children and was raised in Zanesville, Ohio.

She graduated from Muskingum High School in Ohio and attended college in Florida and Utah. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and worked hard and provided compassionate care as a Nurse for over ten years.

Laura married Jay Dean Betts on March 31, 1983, in Spanish Fork, Utah. They were sealed on April 14, 1984, in the Provo Utah Temple. She and Jay later divorced. They were blessed with four children: Joshua, Jacey, Justin, and Jentry.

She enjoyed sewing and scrapbooking and took a keen interest in fashion and beauty and loved to shop.

Laura was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her mother Carol Coakwell of Ohio, children: Joshua Betts of Ogden, Utah, Justin (Autumn) Betts of Payson, Utah, and Jentry (Madison) Betts of Santaquin, Utah, six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Avery, Sophie, Jackson, Dutton, and Daxton due to be born in January 2027, her brothers in Ohio, Mark (Kathryn) Coakwell and Doug (Anita) Coakwell; as well as, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Coakwell, father of their children, Jay Dean Betts, daughter Jacey Betts, and grandson Alexander Betts.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Spanish Fork City Cemetery located at 420 South 400 East in Spanish Fork, Utah. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
