Kyle Jackson
Workman
Apr 26, 1996 — May 4, 2020
Kyle Jackson Workman was born April 26 th , 1996 in Provo, Utah to Matt and Megan Workman. Kyle passed away May 4 th , 2020. Kyle was loved by everyone who met him. He had a contagious laugh and the best smile that made his beautiful blue eyes light up. He had so many talents and skills that he loved to share with others.
He lived in Utah until he was 4 and then he moved with his family to Chandler, Arizona. He loved to play and swim while living there and he started his love of football when playing on a flag football team coached by his dad. Kyle would even come up with the plays for the team to use and make his little sister practice throwing the football with him, even if she could hardly hold the ball. He moved back to Utah when he was 10.
Kyle continued to love football and when he was 12 his team, the Bears, won their Superbowl. He also started to love chess and would play with anyone who would agree to play. He participated in a chess club after school and many tournaments. Kyle loved making friends and kept many of his friends from Junior High through his whole life. Kyle was very enthusiastic about scouting and was lucky enough to have a great scoutmaster who took them on many adventures. He worked really hard and was able to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14. Kyle really came out of his shell during his scout camps, with his leaders oftentimes bringing home stories about him that his parents couldn’t believe.
Kyle graduated from Salem Hills High School in May 2014. He loved his High School experience. He went to many dances, dates and activities with his big group of friends. Kyle spent many weekends creating funny videos with his friends, whether for his school assignments or just for fun. Kyle’s family will always enjoy watching these videos. His family loved watching him participate in the Manhawk for the Make a Wish week, and also the Mr. Skyhawk competition. Both required dancing and dressing up in various get-ups. This is where Kyle developed a love for performing and making people laugh. After his mission, Kyle loved watching and performing at various improv comedy clubs in Provo, and you were very lucky if you caught one of his shows. He was always so excited when anyone he knew attended one of his shows, and he was very appreciative of their support.
Kyle served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala speaking Spanish. He was very excited to leave on his mission right after High School. As many of you know, he was an amazing missionary. Kyle loved serving the people of Guatemala and it changed his life. He had many experiences that humbled him and helped him develop his strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Kyle made many friendships in Guatemala and always hoped to go back someday.
Kyle loved his welding job, hanging out with friends and family, playing video games, watching scary movies, and eating various crazy junk food combinations. He is survived by his parents, his older brother Taylor, Taylor’s wife Savannah, two nephews, Porter and Garrett, two nieces, Rose and Audrey, his younger sisters Abigail and Bailey, and his younger brothers Colby and Carter. Kyle will be so very missed by his immediate family, as well as extended family, and countless friends.
Towards the end of his mission, Kyle developed severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. His OCD consisted of intrusive thoughts and depression. He battled this illness every minute of every day and tried so hard to continue to make people happy. We are so thankful for the time we got to spend with Kyle and he will stay forever a part of our hearts. We know he has a testimony and love of our Savior, and that he is surrounded by past and future friends and family on the other side of the veil.
