Obituary

Born August 1, 1953, in Provo, Utah, to Lynn J. and Na Dean Bellows. Kris was the youngest of five girls. She and her sisters were never far from a little mischief and a good time. As a result, her life was marked by a sense of humor, boundless love for her family, and an ability to make the most of every moment.

Kris grew up in Orem, Utah, and graduated from Orem High School in 1971. During her early years, she developed a lifelong love of reading. While living in Spanish Fork, she became the unofficial book critic for the local library, devouring two to three novels each week. She offered many book recommendations to the librarians, who were often grateful to have her expertise. So much so that they invited her to be on the library board.

Her career path was as diverse as her interests. In high school, she worked at A&W and Taco Bell. Later, she ran the girls’ and infants’ department at JCPenney in Orem, framed art at Ernst, University Mall, and then her own frame shop in Spanish Fork. She also spent time as a substitute teacher in local elementary and intermediate schools, bringing her unique brand of warmth, wit, and wisdom to classrooms across the area.

Service was an important aspect of Kris’s life. She served countless people in and outside her numerous church callings. Wherever she helped, she was known for her dedication to getting the job done well and making sure people had a laugh while they did it.

Kris married Gary Taylor on July 13, 1973. Following his death, she married J. Randall Christensen on November 17, 1978. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, solidifying their strong and lasting bond. Together they raised three sons: Scott, Jon, and Max. Kris’s devotion to her boys was only matched by her limitless love for her eight grandchildren. They brought her immense joy; no barrier could keep Grandma Kris from traveling the world to see them.

Beyond books and grandkids, Kris loved collecting seashells on the beach, live music and Duke basketball. A loud band, a Diet Coke, and her family were all she needed for a perfect evening.

Kris is survived by her husband, J. Randall Christensen; her three sons, Scott (Judean), Jon (Haylie), and Max; eight grandchildren: Ian (Skylar), Marley, Lauren, Gavin, Gwyn, Bridger, Daphne, and Dexter; and her sister, Linda Olsen (Randy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn J. and Na Dean Bellows, and her sisters, Carolyn (Eldon), Joanne (Paul), and Mary (Darrell).

Kris will be remembered for her sharp wit, loving heart, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Her legacy is one of warmth, love, and a refusal to take life too seriously.

To honor Kris’s memory, we encourage you to laugh at a good joke, listen to your inner rebel, and have a good time with those you love.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Aspen Ridge Hospice, especially Melissa, Brenda and Rory.
