Obituary

Kenneth Stephen Booth, 91, of Salem, Utah, passed away on May 4, 2020.  Ken was born on September 2, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Clarence James Booth and Louisa Bama Mallette. His mother died shortly after his birth and he was raised by Elizabeth Booth, his father’s second wife and Ken’s step-mother. He grew up in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, where he played on the high school football team.  He had a lot of fond memories of his childhood and high school days. He loved his family.

While in the Merchant Marines, he met Neta Andresen Hansen in New York City. They married on July 2, 1951, when Ken was serving in the Air Force. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They were blessed with three children: Jan, Rahn, and David.  Ken loved scouting and served for many years as a scout master in Phoenix Arizona. All of his children have fond memories of the many excursions,  camping trips, and other outdoor activities in which they all participated. He loved to take his family on exploratory trips in the Arizona deserts. Ken taught his sons how to hunt and to use guns. He was a kind and devoted father.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During his life he served in various capacities in the church, but scouting was probably the calling that he enjoyed the most and where he had the greatest impact. He was gifted with the ability to understand technology and worked as an engineering technician for Motorola for many years. He was a good, kind, and gentle man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother, Harold Booth. He is survived by his children, Jan (Don) Hansen of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Rahn Booth of Salem, Utah, and David (Carolyn) Booth of American Fork, Utah, three brothers, Frank ( Barbara) Booth of Newark, Ohio, LeRoy Booth of Cleveland, Tennessee,  and Truman (Audrey) Booth of Albany, Louisiana; he is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Due to the current circumstances, a private graveside service will be held for family, Friday, May 8th at the Salem Cemetery.
