Obituary

Keith Lynn Johnson, 82, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 20, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Truman Fred Johnson and Vera Serena Larsen Johnson. Raised in Springville, Utah, Keith built a life grounded in service, faith, and devotion to his family.

At just 17 years old, Keith enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving from 1960 to 1964 aboard the USS Mispillion as a gunner. He completed his high school education in 1961 while serving his country and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Auto Mechanics in 1966.

On December 10, 1963, Keith married the love of his life, Mary Lou Taylor, in Springville, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 13, 1974, where they were sealed together with their five sons. For the past 50 years, Keith and Mary Lou made their home in Spanish Fork, where they built a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to family.

Keith worked for 19 years as a beloved school bus driver for the Provo School District, retiring in 2011. Students, parents, and coworkers alike appreciated his kindness, humor, and steady presence.

A man of many interests, Keith loved cooking—especially anything that involved a grill or smoker. He enjoyed hiking, riding his bike, watching cartoons and westerns, and was an avid Star Trek fan. His curiosity, creativity, and youthful spirit made him a joy to be around.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keith served in numerous callings throughout his life, including roles in the Priesthood, as Ward Clerk, and most recently as a Ward Missionary. His dedication to his faith and community was evident in the way he lived and served.

Keith is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Lou Johnson; his five sons: Johnny Jay (Carla), Jimmy Joe (Wendy), Jeffrey Jordon, Jack Joel (Tammy), and Jed James (Carmela) Johnson; 16 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Fred and Vera Serena Johnson, and his brother, Gary Fred Johnson.

Keith will be remembered for his gentle heart, his humor, his steadfast faith, and his deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.
