Apr 6, 1954 — Oct 31, 2022
Kathryn (Kathy) Leone Dutson, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022 in Payson Utah. After many years of health issues, the last couple of years leaving her home bound, she is now free from her earthly pain and challenges.
Kathy was born April 6, 1954 in Nephi, Utah to Kendall Atkin Dutson and Dorothy Wilde. She was the third of three children and was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. In her youth, Kathy enjoyed playing with her friends, riding her bicycle, and working in her parents’ businesses. Kathy was a beautiful little girl with long, dark hair and captivating eyes, but she also had a mischievous side. She attended school in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. Kathy went on to attend Brigham Young University, where she studied science.
Kathy was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was called to serve a mission in the Navajo Nation as a young woman and served in various church callings throughout her life, as her health permitted.
Kathy made her home in Provo, Utah. She enjoyed singing, especially Christmas music and songs of the restored gospel. A highlight of Kathy’s life was being able to sing and perform in the historic Provo Tabernacle. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting friends across the country. She had a fond place in her heart for San Francisco, California. Kathy loved spending time with her family, eating gummy bears, and visiting with her friends.
She is survived by her sister, Carol (Carl) Ringger of Payson, Utah; eight nieces and nephews, six great-nephews and a great-niece, and a beloved cousin, MarLou (Ron) Irvine. She is preceded in death by her parents Kendall and Dorothy, brother Randall, sister-in-law Catherine, and a great-niece Annalyse.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Parkway Health Center in Payson, Utah and Bristol Hospice for their patient and attentive care.
