Obituary

Katherine (Kay) LaVon Goodsell Bradford of Vienna, Virginia, passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 77 after a 5 year battle with cancer.

Kay was born August 4, 1946 to Wylie and LaVon Goodsell in Arlington, Virginia. After Kay graduated from Washington & Lee High School, she went on to graduate from Brigham Young University with a degree in Elementary Education.

Kay knew the Bradford family from childhood. Kent Bradford and Kay started dating while at BYU. They married September 9, 1969 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Kent and Kay moved to Vienna, Virginia to raise 5 children: Kevin, Kimberly, Kyle, Karen, and Kirk.

Kay was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Seminary Teacher, Organist, Sunday School Teacher, Primary Chorister, and Temple Ordinance Worker. Kent and Kay served an 18 month mission for the LDS Church in New York City. She operated two successful businesses, Diet Center and Treasure Towers. Her motivation in everything was to be with and love people.

Kay is survived by her husband, 5 children, 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 brothers: Neil, Glen, and Steve. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild, Jordan, who survived 7 days after birth. Kay is well known for her energetic optimism and her faith in Jesus Christ. She was energized by being with family and friends. She loved many and is loved by many. Kay well lived her favorite phrase: Life is good!
