Obituary

Joyce Blair Brittain, 70, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 16, 2020, in The Kingman Regional Hospital in Kingman, Arizona.

Joyce was born on June 1, 1950, as an answer to the prayers of her parents, Merrill and Ruth Blair..  She had twin brothers and another brother pass away, before her, at their birth. Her mother was given a blessing, before Joyce’s birth, telling her that she would give birth to a beautiful healthy, daughter; so, they only had a girl’s name prepared for her when she was born.

She worked hard at her parents’ dairy and was a great help to her parents with raising her younger brothers. She was the original member of the JJ Club when her brother, John, was born – J for Joyce and J for John; this was expanded to the JJ&G Club when her brother, Grant, was born.  She helped comfort her mother, when her mother had another baby boy die at birth, after Grant was born; and, Joyce was an extra mother to her youngest brother, Gary.

Joyce married the love of her life, Larry Brittain, in March of 1973; they were later sealed in the St. George Temple. She found great joy in becoming a mother to his children, Pam and Richard; and later, a grandmother to their children. In addition to working hard to support their family, Joyce and Larry enjoyed sharing their talents in singing and playing guitars as the duet “The Utah Yodeler and Miss Joyce”. They even appeared on TV. Joyce loved to crochet and made several gifts for others, using this talent. Among Primary and other LDS Church callings, she also enjoyed working in the Scouting program with her husband. She was a foster mother for over a hundred boys.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Larry; children: Pam (Michael) Allred, and Richard Brittain; grandchildren: Sharon McConkie, Ben Watkins, Vanessa Brittain, Ricky Brittain; also, great-grandchildren: Devin McConkie, Megan McConkie, Logan Arnbrister, Gunner Arnbrister; and by her brothers: John (Carla) and Gary (Cindy).  She was preceded in death by parents, Merrill and Ruth; her brothers: Richard, Alan, Alvin, James (who died at birth), and Grant (who left us just nine years ago); and grandson, Eric Arnbrister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Walker Funeral Home: 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
