Jenay Kay
Cannon
Dec 19, 1989 — Mar 2, 2024
Jenay Kay Cannon, age 34, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Nephi, Utah. She was born on December 19, 1989, in Payson, Utah, and was the first daughter of Clay Slaymaker and Jennie Whipple. She was soon joined by her two younger sisters, Adrie and Karley. Thus began a lifetime of being a mother hen. Growing up, she loved to hunt, camp, dance, and play softball. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School with the class of 2008.
Shortly after high school graduation, she earned her CNA and began her career as an OB Surgical Tech at Mt. View Hospital. Jenay touched countless lives and was revered and loved by coworkers and patients. Jenay loved her job, her work family, and helped bring countless children into the world. Although she grew up loving everything outdoors, she was a fashionista and loved a good six-dollar cup of joe.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life were her four beautiful children. She married Garrett Cannon on May 9, 2009, in Mapleton, Utah. Together they had four children: Quinn Kay, Traeger Blaine, Charlie Annette, and Ripley Jenay. She also counted her fur baby Drake as her fifth child. Jenay enjoyed attending sporting events, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors with family.
Jenay is survived by her husband and children, her parents Clay (Kerrie) Slaymaker and Jennie Whipple, her in-laws Gary and Annette Cannon, her siblings Adrie (Brett) McCausland, Karley Slaymaker, Kamaree (Neil) Oldham, and Cole (Courtney) Jackman, her grandparents Jim and Ida Kay Slaymaker, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Tyler Moos, her brother from another mother.
Jenay was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Shelia Cross, Uncle Austin Moos, and a brother, Trason Jackman.
Jenay will forever be missed by her husband Garrett, her children, and all those who knew and loved her. Until we meet again, our beautiful “Nay Nay.”
A Celebration of Life for Jenay will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. All family and friends are welcome to come celebrate her life.
