Jeffrey Darrel
Carter
Oct 8, 1955 — Feb 6, 2019
Heaven gained an amazing angel when Jeff Carter was called home on February 6, 2019 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born October 8, 1955 in Payson, Utah to Bill and Jeanine Carter. He married the love of his life, Pat Anderson, in the Manti Temple on September 4, 1975. Together they have two sons, two daughters, and one angel daughter.
Jeff was employed by Nebo School District for 30 years. He enjoyed his current position as the maintenance supervisor and made many lasting friendships over the years.
Jeff was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including Bishop, Elders’ Quorum, Stake Young Men’s President, High Councilor, and recently spent six years serving in different callings in BYU student wards. His favorite calling was working with the youth. Jeff and Pat were currently serving as temple ordinance workers in the Payson Temple.
Jeff loved anything to do with the outdoors. He loved gardening and took pride in his yard. He looked forward to his annual spring shed hunts with his family. His most memorable hunt was his desert bighorn sheep hunt when he was surrounded by family and friends. He loved camping, fishing, and boating. He loved taking his boat out to go fishing but especially looked forward to the annual Lake Powell trip with his family.
Jeff loved his grandchildren and had a special bond with each one of them. Madison and Braiden Mendenhall, Kinsley, Mayley and Kale Smith, and Lexi and Gavin Carter loved having Grandpa supporting them in all their many activities. He was their biggest fan!
Jeff is survived by his wife, Pat Carter, and their children Michelle (Todd) Sperry, Chad (Jessica) Carter, Emily (Keaton) Smith, and Justin (Aspen) Carter all residing in Santaquin. He is also survived by his father, Bill Carter, brothers Clair (Cindy) Carter and Marc (Chris) Carter. He is preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly, mother Jeanine, and brother and sister-in-law Randy (Connie) Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 12 p.m. Noon at the Santaquin 15th Ward, 45 South 500 West, Santaquin. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson. A visitation will be prior to service from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the first responders and wonderful staff at Mountain View and Utah Valley Hospitals, especially Jessica King and Mike McNeil in the ICU. We would also like to thank everyone for the love and support we have received during this difficult time and for loving Jeff!
