Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a kind and gentle soul, Janice Kim Klingonsmith, on October 27, 2024, due to complications from open heart surgery. Janice was born on September 30, 1968, in Payson, UT, to Connie (Barnes) Klingonsmith and Phillip Klingonsmith, Jr.

Janice grew up in Orem, UT and Moapa Valley, NV. She graduated from Moapa Valley High School, then went on to graduate from UNLV with a degree in social work, making her the first in her family to earn a college degree. She worked as a Social Worker in Las Vegas and San Diego, then was a long-time employee at Walmart and the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza. More recently she enjoyed working as a teller at America First Credit Union in Mesquite, NV.

Janice was a precocious and happy kid with a bit of a mischievous spirit that spilled over into her teen years. As an adult, she was a trusted friend, dependable, compassionate, and had the rare quality of acceptance. Janice adored her family and her family admired her determination to persevere through the many challenges she faced. She kept her sense of humor, even during difficult times. Her wit, smile, and laughter will be sorely missed. And her kindness will be her legacy.

Janice was predeceased by her father, Phillip Klingonsmith, Jr. and sisters Pamela Klingonsmith and Taunya Klingonsmith Boatright Pierce. She is survived by her mother, Connie Rusk; step-father, Edward Rusk; and her siblings, Sherie Klingonsmith (Rusty) Moore and Doug (Brenda) Klingonsmith.

A Celebration of Life for Janice will be held in the spring of 2025. The family would love for you to leave a message or memory on the condolence page to help them build a memory board for Janice’s celebration.
