Obituary

Hanna Maria Santillan, age 16, passed away peacefully in the arms of her parents and grandparents on June 28, 2021, at Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Hanna’s medical trials were many in her short life. Through multiple diagnoses, surgeries, complications and hospital stays, she continually willed her body to recover. She had a great desire to be here with her loved ones and she brought them such joy. Her little body just couldn’t handle any more. Her family is very proud of her for enduring so much.

Hanna was a night owl and spent many late evenings and early mornings squealing and laughing with her mother. She loved listening to music, especially Bluegrass. She loved movies, going shopping and out to lunch, dancing, swinging, and swimming. Hanna was also very stylish; she wore darling clothes, had long beautiful hair, a bright pink wheelchair and a sweet disposition.

She was a baptized member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she blessed the lives of those who loved and served her. With the help of her friends, Hanna was able to receive her Young Womanhood Recognition award. She also had the opportunity to do proxy confirmations in the Payson temple.

Hanna loved to travel. At age 11 she was granted a Make A Wish trip to Nashville, TN. Her other adventures included a Hawaiian cruise, a Caribbean cruise, a trip to Yellowstone, and many trips to Las Vegas and Wendover. Her life was limited in many ways, but she did and saw so much, thanks to her generous and doting grandparents.

When she reached age 15 she was given the birthday party of a lifetime. She looked stunning in her royal blue Quinceañera dress, and her family and friends ate, danced, and celebrated with her. The party was well attended and the Mexican food was so delicious that we actually ran out!

Hanna is an only child and is survived by her mother Denise M. Johnson Santillan, her father Alejandro Santillan, grandparents Ronald Max Johnson and Mary Leone Johnson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Adelina Rosales and Ysrael Santillan, and her best friend Stacey Powell.

Hanna’s parents would like to thank the following medical professionals and aides that assisted her throughout her life: CNS Hospice Group, Nurses Tammy and Geoff, Aide Esther, and the Rainbow Kids Team (Palliative Care) of Primary Children’s Hospital. They also thank the Emergency staff at Spanish Fork Hospital and the Life Flight crew who stabilized and transported Hanna the day before her passing. Their heroic efforts gave Hanna’s loved ones time to say goodbye.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. 1006 E 180 S, Spanish Fork, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:30 A.M. and the funeral will follow at 12:00 noon. Hanna will be laid to rest in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

In addition, the Santillan family will gather July 6 for a Celebration of Life from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Walker Mortuary, 187 S Main Street, Spanish Fork.

An angel on earth, and now in heaven, we are so grateful she finally gained her wings and returned to her Heavenly Father.
