Obituary

Glenn David Ahrens, 78, passed away on January 30, 2025. Glenn was born to loving parents on July 2, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Glenn grew up in Milwaukee, and excelled in academics, sports, and drama. He graduated early from high school and attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before attending Brigham Young University. Glenn served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ in the West German Mission from 1966-1968.

After his mission, Glenn returned to BYU and reunited with his pre-mission sweetheart, Nancy Lee Little. Glenn and Nancy were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 19, 1968. They had a wonderful marriage together for more than 53 years. What a joy to know they are now reunited! Their legacy includes being the parents of 4 wonderful children, the grandparents of 18 amazing grandchildren, and 2 precious great-grandchildren.

Glenn received an undergraduate degree at BYU, a Master’s degree in German from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a law degree from DePaul University in Chicago. Glenn spent most of his professional career as a trust officer for bank trust departments as well as for Deseret Trust Company in Salt Lake City, achieving many professional and service awards. He retired from Deseret Trust Company in 2015. Glenn always enjoyed teaching. He taught college level German, and after retiring from Deseret Trust was an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University teaching business law classes.

Glenn served diligently in many callings in the church throughout his life, including bishop, gospel doctrine teacher, Sunday School teacher, and other leadership roles in his local congregation. He was a faithful and lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ with a strong testimony and a devotion to the truth. He loved to share spiritual and inspirational thoughts with others. He was a wonderful example of faith and service.

Glenn was a passionate sports fan, and loved both watching and participating in sports. He was an avid tennis player, and liked to attend his children and grandchildren’s sporting and other events, giving coaching tips and lots of encouragement. He was also an avid BYU fan, and always loved watching or attending football and basketball games.

Glenn enjoyed life and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always put his family first. He served and loved his wife Nancy diligently. He spent time with his family making memories and loved to take pictures at any family event. Glenn especially enjoyed listening to the Tabernacle Choir and attending their concerts with his family. Glenn had a very friendly temperament and many people knew and loved him. Glenn had many talents, which included an ability to connect with others and build relationships, spending time with others, planning meaningful activities and getting tickets to just about anything, and being his children and grandchildren’s biggest fan and cheerleader.
