Glen Leon
Clayson
Nov 3, 1957 — Jul 16, 2022
Glen returned to our Heavenly Father on July 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He battled medical issues for several years and seemed to have many lives because of all the miracles that happened to prolong his life.
Born on November 3, 1957 to Leon “Bud” Hansen Clayson and Grace Joan Wyler, Glen learned hard work from his parents on their farm in Lake Shore. He attended Lake Shore Elementary School. He often would tell the story that he started working for Rigtrup’s Egg Farms at 12 years old. He worked hard and was able to pay cash for his truck in high school. He kept and taught that hard-working mentality all his life.
Glen graduated from Spanish Fork High School and seminary. He played football, weight lifted, and threw the javelin. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada Toronto mission from 1977-1979. He was sealed to his sweetheart Dannette on June 7th, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple officiated by his Mission President M. Russell Ballard. He was humbly proud that all five of his children followed in their parents footsteps and served missions as well.
Glen worked for Spanish Fork City as a lineman before his marriage and later received a business degree from the University of Utah which led him to a career as a Financial Advisor working for Zions and Wells Fargo Investments. (His mom said “he got really good at math because his sisters were always shortchanging him “)
Glen lived a simple life full of hard work, sports, fishing, boating, water skiing, movies, songs, stories, and laughter. You could always count on hearing many stories and spending many more hours than you had planned on because Glen loves to talk to people. He also loved to sing! His kids would often ask “Is that a real song or did you make it up?” to which he always responded that it was a real song (we’re still not sure if some were).
We’re forever grateful for the memories, example, and love shown to us by Glen. He loved to joke around and sometimes it got him into trouble. We will miss him dearly, but we know this is only for a short time and we will see him soon.
He is survived by his loving wife Dannette Smith Clayson, and his five children: Matthew (Sydney), Jordan, Jaden (Joshua) Harding, Gentry, Bridger (Miranda). Glen also has six wonderful grandchildren who love and miss him dearly Evalynn, Archer, Rowan, Thea, Chloe and Kayden. He is also survived by his four sisters Linda (Paul) Rose, Leona (Floyd) Gardner, Sandra (Chris) Weight, Mary (Patrick) Peterson, brother Kent (MarLene) Clayson and his father-in-law Jerry (Jean) Smith, and wonderful nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother & father 31 years ago, his baby sister Carol, brother-in-law Floyd, and mother-in-law Jean.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1911 East 1850 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Visitation will be held prior from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery for immediate family on a later date.
