Obituary

Ginger Hickman Kindell, 82, of Payson, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at Orchard View Assisted Living.

Ginger was born on November 23, 1943, in Bend, Oregon, to Wesley and Bonnie Hickman. She grew up alongside her two brothers and one sister and often shared fond stories of her childhood in Oregon, where she learned to cook and clean at a young age while helping support her family’s butchering business.

She married Hank Kindell on October 14, 1972, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together, they built a life of adventure and service, living in places such as Germany and Panama during Hank’s Army career.

Ginger loved hosting baby showers and social gatherings for fellow Army families, forming lasting friendships wherever they were stationed. She was known for her generosity and creativity, often making cakes and quilts for friends and loved ones. After years of struggling with infertility, Ginger and Hank were blessed with their son, Brigham, in 1980. Following Hank’s retirement from the Army, they settled in Spanish Fork, Utah, where Ginger continued sharing her talents by baking cakes for those in her community.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ginger faithfully served in many callings. She especially loved teaching Primary and serving as a visiting teacher, always offering kindness, warmth, and support to those around her.

Ginger was known for her gentle, loving nature and her willingness to help anyone in need. She found great joy in her two grandchildren, Brighton and Liberty. She loved baking and coloring with them when they were young and took special delight in making their birthday cakes and treats for school events.

In her later years, Ginger continued to share her bright spirit. The nurses and staff at her care facility often remarked on her cheerful attitude and her sense of humor, appreciating the joy she brought into their days.

Ginger is survived by her mother, Bonnie Hickman of Spanish Fork; her siblings, Tom Hickman of Santaquin, Roland Hickman of Payson, and Bonnie Dansie of Spanish Fork; her beloved husband, Hank Kindell; her son, Brigham, and his wife Daurie; and her cherished grandchildren, Brighton and Liberty.
