Geri Lyn
Morley
Oct 23, 1959 — Dec 29, 2020
Beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Geri Lyn Morley, peacefully passed away at age 61, in the home of her parents, Ray (Jeddy) and Sandy Morley, in Spanish Fork, Utah, on December 29, 2020.
Geri’s parents and 12 siblings find it fitting that she is the first to pass through the veil, where she can save a place for those to follow. Her siblings include Craig Morley (Debbie Bushnell), Mike Morley (Krystin Poulter), Gina Griffiths (Steve), David Morley (Shannon Merrell), Chrisy Cope (Steve), Cathy Bennett (Mike), Jed Morley (Michele Treanor), Richard Morley (Audra Orton), Sandi Hughes (Brian), Mark Morley (Tasha Wasden), Mary Ethington (Brett), and Mandi Ellsworth (Mark), with numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Price, Utah, on October 23, 1959, as the third child and oldest daughter, Geri Lyn lacked oxygen at birth, which damaged her brain and made her child-like all of her life. She was gullible, delightful, and excitable. She always made holidays magical with her youthful thrill – especially on Christmas – and even heard Santa and all his reindeer on the rooftop – bells and all! Nothing got Geri more animated and vocal than a BYU football game. She could be heard all throughout the house cheering and coaching the Cougs. If BYU was not victorious, it was a bad day for everyone! Geri is remembered for her contagious, dimpled smile, her loud, head-thrown-back laughter, her friendly greetings and hugs, and her excellent memory that never forgot a name and face. She attended and graduated Oakridge School in Provo, Utah. She worked for a year at an elementary school with her Aunt Shirley, as a teacher’s aide, and then returned to Oakridge and assisted teachers and students for two decades.
Geri was systematic and scheduled. She was an early riser and always early for any event. When asked what time she awoke in the morning, she replied resolutely, at 5:47AM. Not 5:45AM. It was precisely at 5:47AM! She was dependable as she oversaw the security of the Salem Stake Center for over 10 years, walking unafraid in the dark every night to ensure doors and windows were closed and locked. We knew we could depend on our big sister to catch us when we were in the storage room sneaking food on Fast Sunday, or get us out of bed when trying to sleep through 6:00AM scripture study. She was faithful and disciplined. She knew and loved the scriptures. She enjoyed music and had an angelic singing voice. Geri loved people and was very social. People in the community have been generous and kind to her, which has warmed the hearts of her parents and siblings. We exult in knowing that the “real” Geri Lyn has now eternally emerged!
The family will have a “Celebration of the Life of Geri Lyn Morley” . . . Monday, January 4, 2021. Family unable to attend, as well as friends, due to Covid and distance restrictions, are welcome to join the proceedings via Zoom. We rejoice in the thought of our sweet Geri Lyn finally receiving all she was denied in this life . . . a sound mind, healthy body and opportunity for a husband and family of her own.
