Obituary

Floyd Lee Jones was born February 28, 1962, to Edward Gates Jones and Gwen Reid in Payson Utah. He passed away May 6, 2024, after a battle with cirrhosis. Floyd was the youngest of seven children. He grew up in Thistle and Springville, Utah.

Dad worked at the Utah State Prison as a guard and in the transportation unit for 20 years, 2 days and 4 hours. He retired in July 2005. He then worked for Intermountain Farmers in the fertilizer plant. He retired from there in 2019.

His WHOLE world was his family.  The only thing he loved more than his wife and kids was his grandkids! He LOVED being a grandpa! Baseball with Jaden and Tyler, watching Braylin wrestle, teaching Austin to cook, reloading bullets with Colton, and playing cars with Wes! It didn’t matter what they wanted to do; he would do it all with them.  You could always tell how much it meant to him by the tear in his eyes while doing it.

Dad was our family rock! It didn’t matter what you were facing or feeling, there was absolutely no judgment. He took in many of his children’s best friends in their time of need, no matter what put them in that situation those kids became his kids.

Dad was an avid cook! He made 5-star restaurants taste like garbage! And he always made sure there was enough made that if anyone stopped by, they could eat too! He was always the last one to eat. He made sure we all got a plate before he did.

While working for the prison he was also the range master, this led to his interest in gunsmithing. If someone needed a gun fixed or had any questions, he was the one that everyone would call!  He loved working on guns and going shooting.

He is survived by his soulmate and wife Tracey Jones; children, Blake Jones (Shannon) of Santaquin, Jennifer Chrzanowski (Doug) of Payson, and Gates Klingenhofer (Erik) of Price; grandchildren, Jaden Jones, and Tyler Jones; Braylin Jones, Austin Chrzanowski, Colton Chrzanowski, and Wesley Klingenhofer; and  siblings, Roger (Diane) Jones, Benjamin, Mark Jones, St. George, Karen (Marvin) Kovatch, Spanish Fork, and Kent Jones, Springville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Gordon Hartley; brothers, Alan Jones and Ronald Jones; and his beloved best friend, Chance, his dog. I’m sure there was a party in Heaven when he got there!

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the family of Sgt. Bill Hooser of the Santaquin Police Department. Please use Venmo @kinda-hooser.
