In Loving Memory of Dora Alicia Chavez Lopez
Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Dora Alicia Chavez Lopez, went home to heaven on October 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave, the strength she carried, and the beautiful life she built will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Dora was born on March 3, 1972, in Sinaloa, Mexico, to Francisco Chavez Pacheco and Dora Lopez Armenta. She was the second youngest of eight children. At just nine years old, Dora experienced the heartbreaking loss of her father in a tragic car accident on December 18, 1981. Faced with a loss no child should have to endure, she grew up far too quickly, helping her mother and learning early on the meaning of sacrifice, responsibility, and resilience. Even as a young girl, Dora demonstrated the strength and determination that would become defining qualities throughout her life.
In 1989, while visiting and working in Tijuana, Dora met the love of her life, Roberto Martin Valencia. Their love story led to marriage on February 4, 1991, beginning a lifelong journey of love, partnership, and family. Together, they welcomed their first son, Luis Roberto Valencia Chavez, on August 16, 1992, followed by their second son, Francisco Valencia Chavez, on September 3, 1996.
In 2000, Dora and her family moved to Agua Prieta, Sonora, where they welcomed their third son, Jesus David Valencia Chavez. During this time, Dora and Martin ran a food business together, working hard to provide for their growing family. After obtaining their U.S. visas, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2004, where they welcomed their fourth son, Cristian Daniel Valencia Chavez.
In 2010, the family made another move, settling in Payson, Utah, where Dora continued building the life she had always dreamed of. She had always hoped to have a daughter, and on July 16, 2014, that dream came true with the birth of her youngest child, Daleyza Victoria Valencia Chavez. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and she poured her heart into being the best mother and wife she could be.
That same year, Dora experienced another beautiful milestone when her first grandchild, Ayleen Danitza VValencia Vazquez, was born on October 28, 2014. Becoming a grandmother brought another special kind of love into her life, and her family continued to be the center of her world.
Dora was a hardworking woman who took pride in providing for her family. From 2010 to 2020, she worked at Tempkin Warehouse, followed by Rimport from 2020 to 2023 and Supra from 2023 to 2024, where she held her final job. Through every season of life, she continued to show up for the people she loved, demonstrating the dedication and perseverance that those closest to her knew so well.
Doris was an extraordinary woman whose love knew no limits. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and a selfless person who always put her family first. Her generous heart, unwavering support, and unconditional love made everyone around her feel cherished. Her strength and kindness will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
On September 9, 2025, Dora was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disease that changed her life and the lives of those who loved her. For a year, she fought with incredible courage and determination, holding on until her very last breath. On October 8, 2026, she passed away at home, leaving behind a family who loved her beyond words.
Although ALS took Dora from this world, it can never take away the love she gave or the memories she created. Her legacy will live on through her five children, her husband, her granddaughter, and everyone whose life she touched. She will forever be remembered for her strength, her sacrifices, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
Rest in heavenly peace, Doris. Your fight is over, your pain is gone, and your love will live on forever. You will never be forgotten.
Visitation/rosary will be held 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Walker Funeral Home located at 587 South 100 West in Payson, Utah.
