It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dena Acord Hiatt, who peacefully departed this life on May 6, 2026, at the age of 45. Dena was a beacon of light and love, born on May 23, 1980, in Provo, Utah, to the late Craig Acord and Terry Lowe Acord. Her life, though shortened, was filled with extraordinary moments and an indelible spirit that touched all who had the privilege to know her.
Dena’s journey began in the warm embrace of her family in Payson, Utah, where she was a source of joy and laughter. Her father, Craig, who preceded her in death, along with her devoted mother, Terry, instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion. She was blessed with a loving family that included her stepfather, Randy Smith, who cherished her as his own.
A graduate of Payson High School in 1998, Dena was a vibrant and active young woman. Her enthusiasm for life was reflected in her love for sports, dance, and cheerleading. She was a proud member of the Payson High School Dance Company and a spirited cheerleader, known for her dynamic energy and infectious smile. In 2000, Dena embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership with her devoted husband, Ryan Hiatt. Their union was further blessed in a sacred ceremony at the Manti Temple on April 24, 2004, a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other and their faith. Together, they built a family grounded in love and shared values, raising four wonderful children: Denver, Trey, Libby, and Gehrig, who were the pride and joy of Dena’s life. Her legacy continues through her two cherished grandchildren.
Dena was a dedicated and accomplished professional, earning her credentials as a licensed pharmacy technician. She served her community in Payson with dedication and care, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with and helped. Her career was a testament to her dedication to service and her unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Dena was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Her testimony and devotion provided comfort and strength through life’s challenges, and she was a guiding light for many in her community.
Those who knew Dena will forever remember her vibrant go-getter attitude, her boundless generosity, and her ability to uplift and inspire everyone around her.
