David Wayne
Bartholomew
Jan 5, 1977 — Sep 5, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Wayne Bartholomew, a loving husband and father who left this world far too soon at the age of 46. David’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, strength, and fun. His memory will continue to inspire his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was born on January 5th, 1977, and above all, became a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Graciela, and an exceptional father to their four children. David and Graciela were married in the Manti Temple on August 12th, 2000. His unwavering love and dedication to his family were the hallmark of his life.
David also had many talents. He knew how things worked and was constantly creating and designing things; friends thought of him as a real-life MacGyver! In his professional life, David followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late Charlie Bates, and became an engineer. He made significant contributions to Wencor, Flowserve and Caldera Engineering, leaving a lasting impact on the success of both companies, and on the lives of those he worked with.
In his leisure time, David found joy and adventure in exploring the beauty of nature, especially with his family. This included family backpacking trips, bike rides, hiking, skiing, and afternoon walks. He loved travelling with his family as well. He also enjoyed model planes and drones, and would keep family memories by taking aerial videos of family activities. One particularly cherished hobby was restoring his vintage Ford Mustang. He poured his heart and soul into this project, reviving the classic car and preserving a piece of family history. His brothers have since finished it for him.
David served honorably as a missionary in Manaus, Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He possessed a strong testimony of our Savior and God’s love for all His children. He served as a youth leader, ward clerk, and Elder’s Quorum President, but the calling he cherished the most was being a father and husband.
David is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Charlie Bates, and Margaret and Wayne Bartholomew; his mom, Jean (Bates) Prete; and mother-in-law, Graciela Peralta Hesiquio. He is survived by his wife, Graciela Bartholomew; his children, Briana, David, Melinda, and Tyler; his parents, Bert and Debbie Bartholomew, Santiago Javier Alvarez, and Lon Prete; his grandmother, Ellen Bates; and his siblings, Debbie Snider, Russell Bartholomew, Paul Bartholomew, and Connor Bartholomew.
To honor David, a service celebrating his life will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, September 11 th . The service will take place at the church located at 1850 S 2300 E, Spanish Fork, UT 84660, where friends and family can come together to remember and pay their respects to this remarkable man who touched so many lives.
