Chase Jr.
Jul 29, 1937 — May 22, 2025
In Loving Memory
Daniel Douglas Chase Jr. passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service. He was born on July 29, 1937, in Nyssa, Oregon, to Daniel Douglas Chase and Barbara Mecham. He spent his early years in Hoquiam, Washington, Ogden, Utah, and later attended West High School in Salt Lake City. After joining the military, Dan earned his GED in 1955 and later completed a bachelor’s degree in business in 1989.
Dan proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 12, 1954. He served with distinction until being honorably discharged on December 31, 1970, due to a medical disability sustained from combat wounds.
On December 6, 1961, Dan married the love of his life, G. Kathleen Lobmeyer, in Garden Grove, California. After his military retirement, they made their home in northern Minnesota, where they raised their three children.
Despite the challenges from his combat injuries, Dan remained deeply active in both community and church life. He explored various careers, including farming and insurance sales, and dedicated time to civic service through the Lions Club, eventually serving as District Governor. A passionate advocate for veterans, Dan worked tirelessly on their behalf in both Minneapolis and Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
Dan was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully as a Branch President for 19 years, a High Councilman, and a temple worker in Chicago, Illinois; Bismarck, North Dakota; Provo and Payson, Utah. He had the sacred privilege of serving as a temple sealer for 24 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Kathy; his children John Scott (Bridget), Sheryl Huff (Robert), and Karen Taylor (Robert); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings David (Lauralee) and Carol Howe (Gordon). He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Pauline Burnett (Eldon) and Barbara Ann Carter (Alan).
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the one-on-one CNAs from Intermountain Health who provided exceptional care; the dedicated staff at Spanish Fork Hospital; Dr. Flinders, DMD, and Addison, Maria, and Amy at Cascade Family Dental in Springville, Utah; the compassionate team at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Central Utah Veterans Home, and Theresa from Bristol Hospice.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 50 South Main Street, Salem, Utah.
