Colleen Carter
Peay
Dec 17, 1932 — Apr 30, 2021
Graveside services will be live-streamed on Walker Funeral Home Facebook Page
Colleen Carter Peay peacefully passed away with her loving husband by her side on April 30, 2021. Colleen was born to Wayne Carter and Ilah Stevenson Carter on December 17, 1932, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was raised in Provo, Utah, where she attended Dixon Jr. High and graduated from Provo High School in 1951.
She married her long-time sweetheart, Merrill Dean Peay, in 1952. They moved to Fairfield, California, where he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. After being discharged from the military service, they moved back to Utah with their two daughters, Debbie and Karen. They started their new life in Sandy, Utah, where Greg was born.
Mom and Dad have lived in Sandy, Mapleton, Lake Shore, Charleston and most recently in Springville. Mom always made friends wherever they called home. Mom loved the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and testified of its truthfulness many times to her family. She served in many callings throughout her life but her favorite calling was serving as a missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois, with her husband. They served during the building of the new Nauvoo temple and had many wonderful opportunities to assist in that event. They also served an Employment Resource Service Mission.
She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She was proud of the large posterity that she now leaves behind. Anyone that came into her home was greeted with the large family picture hanging on the wall. She is survived by her husband, Merrill Dean Peay; her 3 children: Debbie (Doug) Wood, Karen (Brian) Murray, Greg (Sharon) Peay; 12 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother, Steven (Judy) Carter, and her sister, Judie (Don) Williams.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Provo Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, UT 84606.
Special thanks to the staff at First Choice Home Health and Hospice for their loving kindness in caring for our mother.
