Obituary

Clyde B. Argyle, 85, of Palmyra, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 25, 2021. He was born in Lakeshore, Utah, on June 6, 1935, to Bernell and Rhea Huff Argyle. Clyde was the oldest of four boys: Bert, Dell, and Bill.

Clyde married Carol Lee Hansen on October 7, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. They built the family home and settled in Palmyra, Utah, in 1962, where they raised their five children.

Clyde had a strong work ethic which he passed onto his children. His first job was working at the Pot Ash Plant. He later went on to work at Geneva Steel, and owned his own upholstery business. He was then able to combine his love for ranching and the outdoors and became a Brand Inspector for the Utah State Department of Agriculture, where he retired after 25 years.

Clyde’s jobs gave him the opportunity to meet many people and make many friends.

Clyde was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a
strong passion and testimony of the gospel which he shared with those around him through his deeds, actions, and words. He served the Lord in many positions including Bishop of the Palmyra Ward; as a High Councilman; Branch President at the MTC; as well as an Ordinance Worker at the Provo and Payson Temples.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee; and their children: Lee Ray (Machele) Argyle, of Salem, Utah; Sharon (Bob) Cornett, of St. George, Utah; Linda Marquette of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Jay Lynn (Ann) Argyle, of Elk Ridge, Utah; and Joe Dee (Nikki) Argyle, of Palmyra, Utah; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love to our family during this time and express appreciation to all. A special thank you to the staff of Canyon Home Care & Hospice for their service and compassion.

A viewing for friends and family will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palmyra Church, 1866 West 5000 South, Palmyra, Utah.  Another viewing will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. also at the Palmyra Church, followed by funeral services in the Palmyra Church chapel at 11:00 a.m.
