With faith in Jesus Christ and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Chad Rowley Curtis, who returned to his Heavenly Father on July 4, 2026.
Chad was born on January 15, 1959, to Rowley and Betty Curtis. He was raised in Mapleton and Springville, Utah, alongside his two brothers and four sisters. From an early age, Chad learned the value of hard work while helping on the family farm and later working in the family business, Curtis Concrete. Those experiences shaped the work ethic, integrity, and determination that would define his life.
During his years at Springville High School, Chad embraced every opportunity to learn and serve. He sang in choir, excelled in debate, wrestled, played football, served on the LDS Seminary Council, and participated in many other activities. His love to serve, friendly nature, and willingness to work hard allowed him to build lifelong friendships.
Following high school, Chad accepted a call to serve as a missionary over lighting and display in the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, New York. Soon after, he was called to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Frankfurt, Germany Mission, where he faithfully shared his testimony of the Savior while speaking German. His missionary service strengthened a lifelong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and a love for the scriptures, serving his community, and lifting those around him.
Chad met the love of his life, Janene Nuttall, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple on September 24, 1982. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, laughter, and hard work. It was obvious that his greatest accomplishment was not the buildings he constructed, but the family he and Janene raised together.
A gifted builder and craftsman, Chad took tremendous pride in designing and constructing buildings throughout the Wasatch Front that will bless communities for generations to come. He was especially proud of the schools he helped build, knowing they would serve countless children and families for years.
While Chad loved building with his hands, he cherished opportunities to spend time with his five sons, teaching them the values of faith, hard work, honesty, and service. Some of their most treasured memories were made camping beneath the stars, fishing mountain streams, hunting together, and enjoying the beauty of God's creations. As the family grew, Chad warmly welcomed each daughter-in-law as one of his own and found immense happiness in his grandchildren, who brought him joy.
Above all else, Chad was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, sacrifice, and enduring faith in the plan of salvation. His family finds peace in the knowledge that families are eternal and looks forward with hope to the joyful day when they will be reunited through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Rowley, his beloved son, Christopher Curtis, and his sister, Corin Hall.
He is survived by his eternal companion, Janene Curtis; his sons and daughters-in-law, Sean and Dree Curtis, Ryan and Kim Curtis, Kyle and Micquelle Curtis, and Taylor and Shelby Curtis; and his cherished grandchildren: Haden, Robby, Emery, Albanie, Capri, Bennett, Brooklynn, Grant, Cambria, Georgia, Quinton, Coleman, Graham, and Cade.
The Curtis family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this sacred time.
A visitation will be held in Chad's honor on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1129 South 250 West, Salem, Utah. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the same location. The funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Salem City Cemetery.
