Carolyn Ann Bowen Stephenson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, in Spanish Fork, Utah, at the age of 72. She was born on October 31, 1953, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Isaac Sherman Bowen and Annie Ethel Threet. Carolyn was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah, and always held a special love for the places and people who shaped her life.
Carolyn graduated from Spanish Fork High School and later attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah. She worked as a medical secretary for Intermountain Health, where she was known for her caring nature and dedication to those around her.
On December 28, 1972, Carolyn married the love of her life, Richard Stephenson, in Spanish Fork, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. Together they built a beautiful life centered around their family, faith, and countless memories.
Carolyn was a wonderfully creative person who could find joy in almost anything crafty. She especially loved cake decorating and baking and took great pleasure in creating beautiful and delicious things for the people she loved. She also loved traveling and enjoyed camping with her family, making memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Her love for children was evident throughout her life. Carolyn served as both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and was always willing to give her time and talents to help and teach young people. She held many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but her favorite was serving in the nursery and teaching the youngest children. She had a natural gift for making children feel loved, welcomed, and cared for.
Carolyn's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her kindness, creativity, faith, and love will continue to live on through the family she leaves behind.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Cara Lynn (Rob) Dautel, Richard Mark Stephenson, Russell Scott Stephenson, Robert Isaac Stephenson, Christy Ann (Jade) Rasmussen, and Cindy Marie (Jordan) Hinckley; four grandchildren; and her brothers, Brent L. Bowen and Lon W. Bowen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Sherman Bowen and Annie Ethel Threet; and her siblings, Lila Lynne Black and Sherman Scott Bowen.
Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in the many memories she created, the love she freely gave, and the lasting influence she had on the lives of those around her.
