Bruel Leroy
Bowen
Mar 22, 1936 — Aug 18, 2025
Bruel Bowen, a devoted public servant, craftsman, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Los Angeles, California, on March 22, 1936, to William Floyd and Venita Pace Bowen, Bruel lived a life defined by integrity, dedication, and quiet strength.
After graduating from Spanish Fork High School, Bruel served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. His commitment to service continued with a distinguished 23-year career at the Provo Police Department, where he retired as a Sergeant. He also volunteered with the Search and Rescue Posse in Fillmore, Utah, always ready to lend a hand in times of need.
Bruel married Virginia Pearl Jeppson on December 12, 1959, and together they built a life full of love and family until her passing on April 11, 2000. Later that year, on September 19, 2000, he found companionship again and married Nyda Pauline Leavitt in Provo, Utah.
A man of many talents, Bruel was a passionate rockhound who turned his discoveries into handcrafted jewelry for his loved ones. He found joy in loading bullets, working with his hands, and sharing his creations with family. His hobbies reflected his deep appreciation for nature, craftsmanship, and connection.
Bruel is survived by his children Kyle (Sharon) Bowen and Shannon Bowen; and by Pauline’s sons, whom he embraced as his own: David (Cindy) Reid, Steven Reid, and Les (Sabine) Reid. He leaves behind five grandchildren—Jana Mendez, Kimberly Marumoto, Lisa Witz, Marquel Dodson, and Zachariah Bowen—along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each a living testament to his legacy.
He is preceded in death by his stepson Randy Reid, his grandson Matthew Bowen (2020), his brother Cleon Bowen, and his son Klell Bowen.
Bruel will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his gentle spirit, and the way he transformed simple stones into treasured heirlooms. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the community he served.
