Obituary

Our cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from Covid 19 complications.

Barbara was born September 15, 1941 in Payson, Utah to Reece William and Mabel Okander Davis.  She graduated from Spanish Fork High School with scholastic honors.  Barbara married her high school sweetheart, LaMar Shepherd on October 16, 1959.  They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on December 17, 1963.  Three daughters and one son blessed their life before LaMar passed away in 1973.  Barbara was a dedicated mother and made sure her children were well taken care of as she continued her education.

Back to work for Kennecott Cooper Corporation, Barbara was an executive secretary where she met Neil Sanderson underground while touring the Trixie Mine.  They fell in love and were married on April 22, 1975.  The happy arrival of another baby girl completed their family.

Barbara was a very talented seamstress and spent hours sewing beautiful things for her family.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and keeping a clean and orderly house.  Her family benefited from home cooked meals and clean, fresh laundry from the clothesline.

Camping, fishing, and horse riding spent with family bring back fond memories.  She loved family parties and went the extra mile making them special.  She expressed her love by the many thoughtful gifts and heartfelt cards and poems.

Barbara used her many talents and creativity as a wedding designer for Utah Craft and later as the Art Coordinator for Provo Craft.  She enjoyed the many friendships she made while working there.

She was grateful for her testimony and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She especially liked serving in the Relief Society.

Spending quality time and keeping family close was a top priority for Barbara.  She will be greatly missed by her husband, Neil Sanderson.  Daughters: Shellie (Merlin) Hickman, Tammy (Terry) Brindley, Melanie (Richard) Hansen and Andrea (Kyley) Black.  She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Maurine Peterson and Connie Davis.  We can only imagine the joyous reunion in heaven with her loved ones especially her son, Phillip.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 for close family and friends at the Apple Blossom Chapel – 25 West Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah at 11:00 am.
