Obituary

On January 24, 2024, at the age of 81, Ardis Leatham peacefully passed away surrounded by her family. Born to Carl Alfred Danielson and Wenonah Claire Bigham on March 12, 1942, she was the second of five children, growing up in the Minneapolis–St. Paul region.

After moving to Provo, Utah in 1960, Ardis earned her degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. She married Wesley Duane Hunt in 1964, and their union was sealed in the Oakland California temple. Unfortunately, in 1978, Duane succumbed to a prolonged illness. In 1980, Ardis was remarried to Alex Leatham, and they settled in Elk Ridge, Utah. In 2014, they faithfully served an LDS mission together in South Carolina.

As a teacher, Ardis loved her students and her work at Santaquin Elementary School where she taught for 25 years, retiring in 2008. She loved theater and music, dedicating more than 42 years to the stage. She also served on the boards of Payson Community Theater and Payson Civic Chorale, building a wide network of friends and admirers in the community.

Although small in stature, Ardis was mighty and resilient and faced life’s challenges with courage, faith, dignity, and self-deprecating humor. She was kind, loving, and self-sacrificing always putting the needs of her family and friends first. Ardis will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. We are truly humbled and grateful to have been a part of her extraordinary life.

Ardis was preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl and Wenonah Danielson, and her sister Zoe Coombs. She is survived by her siblings Darrel Danielson, Dwight Danielson, and Trudy Henderson, her husband Alex Leatham, and her five children Anne Flinders, Scott Hunt, Tamie Adams, Kristy Napoli, and Cindy Callahan.

An evening viewing will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the LDS chapel located at 259 E Alpine Drive, Elk Ridge UT. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, January 30, beginning with a viewing from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
