Obituary

Alan G. Swenson, son of Waldo and Ruby York Swenson, passed away on October 12, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1955, and lived his entire life in Benjamin, Utah.

Alan married Patricia Larsen on May 2, 1975, in Spanish Fork, Utah. They built a life together raising a family and managing their cattle operations.

Alan is survived by his wife, Patricia; his five children: James (Carrie) Swenson of Pacifica, California; Andrea (Swenson) Shaffer (Dan) of Payson, Utah; Clint Swenson of Payson, Utah; Adam Swenson of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Travis Swenson of Benjamin, Utah. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan, Thomas, Alyssa, Jonathan, and Sam; and his siblings: Dean Swenson, Patti Baadsgaard, Diane Jenson, and Kay Ream.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Maxine and Robert Larsen; his brother, Gary Swenson; and his sister, Sharlene Money.

Alan was an intelligent businessman with a fun personality. He adapted himself fully to agricultural life and spent his childhood riding the backroads of Benjamin on horseback, learning through 4-H, and developing the skills that would serve him well as a bareback rider in rodeo. Competing at both amateur and semi-professional levels, Alan earned respect for his courage, grit, and determination in the arena. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1973.

Alan spent many years serving on the board of the Spanish Fork Grazing Association and expanded his cattle operation to winter in Moab.

Alan enjoyed many acquaintances and friendships and leaves behind a strong legacy as a father, husband, businessman, cowboy, and friend to many. He was known for being intelligent, hardworking, fair-minded, and tough. He is also remembered for his impressive herd of cattle, his many horses, and his loyal dogs that he counted as friends.
